The Targus® Newport Convertible 2-in-1 Backpack is a trendy 2-in-1 multi-purpose carrier designed for the urban lifestyle. It transform with a single move.

The exterior of the backpack, in either black or olive, is inspired by the Newport Beach in California and adorned with premium metallic hard trims and the metallic Targus® brand badging for a sense of elegance. On the inside, the hip mid-century orange internal lining of the bag is inspired by the setting Sun of California and accentuated by glistening morphed geometrics.

The hybrid beauty features a protective 15” MacBook or 12.9” iPad Pro cradle for those who are required to commute or travel with their gadgets and perfect slim storage to hold purses, sunglasses, cosmetics and other small accessories. Retrieval of items are also doubly easy with a front zippered pocket. The hidden pockets in the backpack also serve as a safe storage space for valuables. 

To uphold the integrity of content within the backpack, a combination of high density water-repellent twill nylon and leather touch polyurethane have been selected as the core materials of the bag. Even during rough weather, users can still run-errands at ease and in style.

Designed to safeguard your tech, the bag’s padded cradle wraps your laptop or tablet in protection on the inside, and stays minimal and stylish on the outside. For those who either prefer to or are required to keep certain sensitive and important items with them, the hidden pocket in the pack serves as a safe storage space.

The Designer.

Targus started out with an idea to provide a solution. In present day, that idea has become a global corporation with hundreds of talented individuals internationally. Demetrius Romanos is the Vice President of Global Design and Product Management for cases at Targus and is the anchor for the design team. Here is an insight to look at how our VP discovered his passion, finds daily inspiration, and reveals his most favorite bags.

I was fortunate to grow up surrounded by creative professionals, and having always been curious and artistic, I knew that I would eventually pursue a career in design or an applied art. Fast forward to my teenage years, I had the opportunity to tour the University of Cincinnati (where my dad had just started teaching and my eventual alma mater) during their end of the year show. All the graduating seniors had their projects displayed gallery style and as I walked the show I got broad exposure to architecture, interior design, graphic design, fine arts, fashion design, etc. But when I saw the section that had cars and shoes and power tools and medical devices, my eyes lit up! As it turned out, I had walked into the Industrial Design studio and from that moment, I was hooked. At 13 years old I knew exactly what I wanted to study and 5 years later I was accepted into that renowned program. The rest is history!

The Artisans.

Targus products are well thought through, beautifully made and functional. True work of artisans.

David Keirsey found that artisans are most at home in the real world of solid objects that can be made and manipulated, and of real-life events that can be experienced in the here and now. Artisans have exceptionally keen senses, and love working with their hands.

Artisans want to be where the action is; they seek out adventure and show a constant hunger for pleasure and stimulation.

They believe that variety is the spice of life, and that doing things that aren’t fun or exciting is a waste of time. Artisans are impulsive, adaptable, competitive, and believe the next throw of the dice will be the lucky one. They can also be generous to a fault, always ready to share with their friends from the bounty of life. Above all, Artisans need to be free to do what they wish, when they wish. They resist being tied or bound or confined or obligated; they would rather not wait, or save, or store, or live for tomorrow. In the Artisan view, today must be enjoyed, for tomorrow never comes.

There are many Artisans, perhaps 30 to 35 percent of the population, which is good, because they create much of the beauty, grace, fun, and excitement the rest of us enjoy in life.

The Artisans Haven.

The Artisans Haven showcases the beauty, grace, fun and excitement by artisans in our world. We have many Proudly Malaysian Artisans with exquisite products & talent, and it is our pleasure to share them with everyone. We are working pro bono, to curate a simple & affordable online mall to promote the rich array of their products & talent to consumers countrywide.

The Mall is a simple virtual 2 storey (ground and 1st floor) building connected to a virtual study abroad campus, art gallery and convention centre. The centre court is vibrant with virtual activities together with anchor tenants, such as Abbie and Friends, Explorer Outfitter, Zapp Signature Store and UPayMe Convenience Store. On the 1st floor, we house artisans on the left wing and retailers on the right wing. The Mall hosts a daily bazaar where retailers can display their products for sale. There is also an entertainment booking counter, next to convention centre.

ADM is a virtual real estate owner, and rental is the primary source of revenue. Cost is kept to a minimal, and consists mainly the cost of social media marketing and website maintenance. The company exists and operates virtually. Mall advisory and curation are provided pro bono by Rosalie and Jade. Tenant relations is headed by Jade and Irene, and includes a free monthly virtual best practice mentorship for interested tenants.
