Donald and I worked together in Standard Chartered Bank. You can feel his confidence before he even speaks. He is clear and precise. Knows what he wants. And he makes it happen.
Brave Move. No Regrets.
Donald graduated with a degree in business from Montana University US. He spent 20 years working in the banks and rising to senior positions at Public Bank, United Overseas Bank, Citibank, BDO Capital Consultants, Standard Chartered Bank, Alliance Bank, and CIMB Bank.
CIMB identified him a a Bright Young Talent, and he was one of the select few to be enrolled at INSEAD. Here, he found his calling for mentoring and coaching, after years of helming business divisions.
He continued to get his certification as a Leadership Trainer & Coach, and found a mentor in John Calvin Maxwell. This American author is a famed author, speaker and pastor with books like The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership and The 21 Indispensable Qualities of a Leader, which have sold millions of copies.
He started his business 6 years ago.
Like what Gladwell said in Outliers, Donald had his 10,000 hours of mastery. He started young with leadership roles in his church & community.
I caught up with him recently, after 7 years. He is definitely doing better, than if he stayed on, in banking. Good move! More importantly, he is making waves in the industry, and helping people discover themselves.
Help People Discover Their Leadership Potential.
People can go for training programs. Read a book. Or follow a regime. Donald helps you discover the leadership potential within you. And he specializes in bringing out the best from leaders who are already among the best.
“Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.” Aristotle
“I count him braver who overcomes his desires than him who conquers his enemies, for the hardest victory is over self.” Aristotle
He says this is the more fulfilling aspect of what he do, and of his career. It helps transform people, their lives, and the organizations that they lead. It is truly a “growth investment”.
- Do you know your attitudes and motivations as a leader?
- Are you a leader that can lead & follow
- What is your conviction and passion as a leader?
- Is your team with you?
He says that a vision can only be born out of conviction and passion, and his passion is to make a difference in building and empowering leaders. Some find their purpose earlier, some find it later and some never find it. Leadership exists but when it is accompanied with conviction and passion, it becomes sustainable and life changing.
In addition, he also shares his know how in business re-modelling and growth for the small and large businesses. He is also a much sought after speaker at various leadership seminars.
His top client base is private and special. Business is mostly through referrals and word of mouth. He is very happy with what he has built, and has a very sustainable and profitable business.
His business philosophy is grounded on core values and consistency. He is respectful and deems it his privilege and honor to serve his clients. They trust him with their issues, both business and personal. This trust in turn allows his clients to dig deeper and discover their inner strengths & leadership. In this competitive environment, corporate figures need a trusted avenue to help make better decisions.
Donald has this rare talent, and is gaining a robust following. Yet he remains a humble chap in faded jeans, haha.
Donald smiled and acknowledged that 2019 was a very good year. He has good connections, from his 20 years in the banking and a unique offering, in an environment ripe for executive coaching.
I asked him, what’s next? He wants to continue to give value to his customers, and also to give back to the community. He is taking this low period, to reflect and plan the next steps of his legacy. Good luck, old friend.
